Terms of Use
Version: terms-v1.0
Effective date: 26 September 2026
1. Please read these Terms carefully
These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of CEFREF.
By creating a CEFREF account and confirming that you agree to these Terms, you enter into an agreement with Ceftronics Limited.
If you do not agree to these Terms, you should not create or use a CEFREF account.
You must be 18 years or older to create an account, accept these Terms or use CEFREF.
2. Who we are
CEFREF is operated by:
Ceftronics LimitedStudio 9

Company number: 11968089
Contact: info@cefref.com
3. What CEFREF does
CEFREF is an electronic headache diary.
It allows you to record and review information including:
- headache or pain severity;
- headache medication use;
- diary dates;
- optional notes; and
- calculated summaries and trends based on information you record.
CEFREF may also allow you to create DATA EXPORTS of your information and, where you choose to participate in an eligible research or clinical Project, to provide a Project copy of an eligible PDF DATA EXPORT.
4. CEFREF does not provide medical advice
CEFREF is intended to support headache recording and review.
CEFREF does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, prognosis or treatment and is not a substitute for assessment or treatment by an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.
The calculations, summaries, charts and trends produced by CEFREF are based on information recorded in your diary. They should not be interpreted as a diagnosis or recommendation about treatment.
You remain responsible for seeking appropriate medical advice.
You should not delay seeking medical attention because of information recorded in, calculated by or displayed by CEFREF.
CEFREF is not an emergency medical service. If you believe that you require urgent or emergency medical attention, you should seek appropriate urgent or emergency medical assistance rather than relying on CEFREF.
5. Your account
You must provide the information required to create and maintain your CEFREF account.
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure.
You must not disclose your password or intentionally allow another person to use your CEFREF account.
If you believe that another person has obtained access to your account or credentials, you should contact us at info@cefref.com.
We may take reasonable steps to protect an account or the CEFREF service where we believe its security may have been compromised.
6. Your information
Your use of CEFREF involves processing personal information, including health information that you choose to record.
Our processing of personal information is described in the CEFREF Privacy Policy.
You should read the Privacy Policy before using CEFREF.
7. Information you enter
You are responsible for information that you enter into CEFREF.
You should take particular care when entering free-form notes. Do not enter information about another identifiable person unless you have an appropriate reason and lawful basis for doing so.
CEFREF’s calculations and displays depend on the information entered into your diary. Incomplete or inaccurate information may therefore result in incomplete or inaccurate diary summaries or trends.
8. DATA EXPORTS
CEFREF allows you to deliberately create certain exports of your information.
Depending on the available export function, an export may include headache, medication, diary, note or calculated analysis information.
You are responsible for deciding when to create an export and for handling copies that you receive securely.
An email or file that has already been delivered cannot necessarily be recalled or deleted by subsequently deleting your CEFREF account.
9. Research and clinical Projects
CEFREF may allow you to participate voluntarily in a research or clinical Project using a Project ID.
Joining a Project may require you to review Project information and provide Project-specific consent within CEFREF.
A Project may also provide its own participant information, privacy information or consent documentation.
Joining a Project does not, by itself, automatically send your headache information to the Project.
If you request an eligible PDF DATA EXPORT while participating in a Project, a separate copy will also be sent to the verified research email address associated with that Project in accordance with the consent and Project arrangements shown to you.
You may leave a Project using the functionality provided by CEFREF. Leaving a Project stops subsequent eligible DATA EXPORTS from being associated with that Project, subject to any export that was already validly created and queued before you left.
Participation in a Project does not replace any separate consent, information or governance requirements imposed by the organisation responsible for that research or clinical Project.
10. Acceptable use
You must not:
- use CEFREF for an unlawful or fraudulent purpose;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to CEFREF, another person’s account or our systems;
- introduce viruses, malicious code or harmful material;
- interfere with, damage or disrupt CEFREF or its supporting infrastructure;
- attempt to circumvent authentication, security or access controls;
- use automated methods to extract information from CEFREF except where expressly permitted;
- infringe our intellectual-property rights or those of another person; or
- use CEFREF in a way that materially interferes with another person’s use of the service.
11. Intellectual property
All intellectual-property rights in CEFREF, its software, documentation, design and services belong to Ceftronics Limited or its licensors.
We give you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use CEFREF for its intended purpose in accordance with these Terms.
You do not acquire ownership of CEFREF software or intellectual property by using the service.
Nothing in these Terms affects your rights in personal information or other content that you provide through CEFREF.
12. Availability and changes
We aim to provide CEFREF reliably, but we cannot guarantee that the service will always be available or uninterrupted.
We may temporarily suspend or restrict CEFREF where reasonably necessary for:
- maintenance;
- security;
- technical problems;
- upgrades;
- legal or regulatory requirements; or
- circumstances outside our reasonable control.
We may update CEFREF to improve security, reliability or functionality or to reflect changes in legal or regulatory requirements.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms where reasonably necessary, including because CEFREF changes or because legal or regulatory requirements change.
The current version and effective date will be displayed with the Terms.
Where a change materially affects your rights or obligations, we will take appropriate steps to bring it to your attention.
Where appropriate, we may require you to accept revised Terms before continuing to use CEFREF.
14. Ending your use of CEFREF
You may stop using CEFREF at any time.
You may also use the Delete Account functionality to request deletion of your CEFREF account and associated information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Deleting your account cannot recall DATA EXPORTS, emails or other information that has already been delivered to you or to another authorised recipient.
15. When we may restrict or end access
We may suspend, restrict or terminate access to CEFREF where reasonably necessary, including where:
- you seriously or repeatedly breach these Terms;
- use of the account presents a material security risk;
- we are required to do so by law;
- continued operation of the service becomes unlawful; or
- CEFREF or the relevant service is discontinued.
Where reasonable and lawful, we will provide appropriate notice.
16. Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
We are responsible for foreseeable loss or damage caused by our failure to comply with these Terms or to use reasonable care and skill, subject to applicable law.
We are not responsible for loss or damage that was not reasonably foreseeable.
CEFREF is provided for personal use. We are not responsible for business losses arising from use of CEFREF for commercial or business purposes.
17. Limitations of CEFREF
CEFREF has not been developed to meet every person’s individual medical or healthcare requirements.
You should determine whether its functionality is suitable for your intended use.
Although we take reasonable care in operating CEFREF, the service depends on software, internet connectivity and third-party infrastructure and may occasionally contain errors or be unavailable.
You should not rely on CEFREF as the sole repository for information that you may require independently for medical care or another important purpose.
18. Third-party services and websites
CEFREF may contain links to websites or services operated by other organisations.
We do not control independent third-party websites and are not responsible for their content, availability or terms.
Use of third-party services may be subject to their own terms and privacy policies.
19. Consumer rights
Nothing in these Terms affects rights that you have under applicable consumer law.
Where applicable, digital services supplied to consumers must comply with legal requirements including those relating to reasonable care and skill and conformity with their description.
20. Transfer of this agreement
We may transfer our rights and obligations under these Terms to another organisation, for example as part of a reorganisation or transfer of the CEFREF business.
If this occurs, we will take reasonable steps to ensure that the transfer does not adversely affect your rights under these Terms.
You may not transfer your CEFREF account or your rights under these Terms to another person without our written agreement.
21. No rights for third parties
Unless expressly stated otherwise, these Terms do not give another person a right to enforce them under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999.
22. If part of these Terms is invalid
Each provision of these Terms operates separately.
If a court or competent authority decides that a provision is unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply.
23. Delay in enforcement
If we do not immediately enforce a provision of these Terms, this does not prevent us from enforcing it later.
24. Governing law
These Terms are governed by English law.
If you live in England or Wales, you can bring legal proceedings in the English and Welsh courts.
If you live in Scotland, you may bring proceedings in either the Scottish or English and Welsh courts.
If you live in Northern Ireland, you may bring proceedings in either the Northern Irish or English and Welsh courts.
